Honestly, when I first pulled up to the Rezen Hotel on Baonan Road, I wasn’t expecting much – you know how some of these newer properties can feel a bit cookie-cutter. But this place actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked into this modern building that doesn’t scream “hotel” from the outside, which I kind of loved because it felt more like discovering a hidden gem than checking into another generic chain property.

What really got me was how thoughtfully they’ve designed the whole experience here. The lobby has this understated elegance – not trying too hard with marble everywhere, but clean lines and spaces that actually make sense. Check-in was refreshingly smooth (and I mean that, because we’ve all been there with the endless forms and waiting around). The staff genuinely seemed to know the area well, which came in handy when I needed directions to some of the smaller exhibition venues nearby. Speaking of which – if you’re coming for business around the HengQin area, you’re going to appreciate being this close to everything without the chaos of staying right in the thick of it.

The rooms themselves? Well, they’ve nailed that balance between modern and comfortable. Everything works – and I mean everything, which sadly isn’t always a given. The bed was actually decent (firm but not like sleeping on concrete), and the blackout curtains are proper blackout curtains, not those flimsy things that let in every street light. You can hear some street noise during the day, but honestly, it’s just the gentle hum of city life, nothing that kept me up at night. What I really appreciated were the little touches – good water pressure in the shower, enough outlets near the bed, and a workspace that’s actually usable if you need to get things done. The air conditioning responds quickly too, which you’ll definitely want during Zhuhai’s stickier months. I stayed here during a quieter period in late fall, but I imagine it gets busier when the major exhibitions are running – so book ahead if you’re planning around those dates. The location really is the sweet spot though; you’re close enough to walk to several exhibition centers without the premium prices of being right on top of them, and there are plenty of decent restaurants within a few blocks if you don’t want to venture far for dinner.
