Holiday Inn Macau by IHG Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Holiday Inn Macau by IHG, you immediately get that familiar Holiday Inn vibe — but with a distinctly Macanese twist. The lobby feels modern and welcoming, though honestly, it’s not trying to be flashy like some of the casino hotels nearby. What struck me right away was how the staff seemed genuinely happy to help, which isn’t always a given in busy Macau. This four-star property sits comfortably in that sweet spot where you get solid amenities without the overwhelming grandeur (or prices) of the upscale resorts.
Location & Getting Around
The location on Rua de Pequim is actually pretty smart — you’re close enough to the action but far enough away to get some peace. I mean, couples seem to really love it here, and I can see why. You can walk to the historic center in about 15 minutes, which beats dealing with taxis during peak hours. The nearby streets have some excellent local eateries that most tourists never discover, and there’s something refreshing about staying where you can grab authentic Macanese breakfast instead of just casino buffets. Plus, you’re not constantly hearing slot machines, which is honestly a relief after a day of sightseeing.
The Room Experience
My room was exactly what you’d expect from Holiday Inn — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without any unnecessary frills. The bed was surprisingly good (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom had decent water pressure, which you can’t always count on in older Macau buildings. What I appreciated most was the blackout curtains — they actually work, so you can sleep in after a late night exploring the city. The air conditioning runs quietly, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped.
Amenities & Relaxation
The buffet breakfast is solid — not mind-blowing, but it covers all the basics plus some local touches that make it interesting. You know what really impressed me though? The spa and fitness center are genuinely nice for a four-star property. The hot tub is perfect after walking around Macau’s hills all day, and the fitness center has newer equipment than I expected. It’s not huge, but everything works properly and it’s rarely crowded. The restaurant serves decent international food, though honestly, with all the amazing local options nearby, I’d recommend venturing out for dinner.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s a reliable, comfortable base for exploring Macau without the casino resort chaos. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience, and the location gives you easy access to both tourist spots and authentic local life. Recent guests consistently praise the location, and after staying here, I totally get it. You’re getting good value in a city where hotel prices can be absolutely wild, especially during peak season. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, start your day properly fed, and feel like you’re staying somewhere that actually understands what travelers need.

Breakfast was good and right for day. Location was ideal with walking distance to the Senoda Square, Ruins and for the shuttle buses to Cotai besides the Wynn Macau, MGM and the Lisboa.
